    Best weather shots awarded

    Winners of the Weather Photography Competition hosted by the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) received their prizes during a ceremony at the Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja yesterday.

    The competition, themed ‘The Future of Weather, Climate and Water Across Generations’ was held in conjunction with World Meteorological Day.

    Muhamad Azlan bin Mohd Jefri won the first place prize of BND500, Norsah bin Haji Kassim won the second place prize of BND300 and Ainatul Ruwaidah binti Rosli won the third place prize of BND200.

    Muhamad Azlan’s winning photo was taken from a spot he frequently visits in Seri Kenangan Beach. He said it was important to know several locations when trying to capture a moment or subject.

    Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim presented prizes to the winners.

    Acting Director of Meteorology Rokiah binti Haji Angas said that the event aimed to raise awareness of various aspects of weather and climate, as well their impact on society.

    The competition took place between October 10, 2023 to February 10 this year.

    Submissions to the competition, some 234 photos from 60 participants, are on display at the Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja until May 19 from 9am until 5pm.  – Adib Noor
