The government has set a benchmark price of selling the antigen rapid test (ART) kit at BND3, allowing the public to have the option of obtaining them easily, said Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah in a press conference yesterday.
“There are shops that sell ART kits exceeding the government price of BND3. Some shops have also reduced their ART kits to BND2.50 each,” he said, adding that the government is not looking to make profits from the sales.
The minister explained that the recent increase in price was due to the low supplies, and said that the government will follow the cost of import in pricing the ART kit.
“If the import cost for these test kit drops, the government will also reduce the price,” he said.
