Belait youth join 3D printing workshop

Some 19 youth recently participated in a workshop on the basics of 3D design software and 3D printing at the Youth Centre, Kuala Belait, as part of an artisan skills programme.

The workshop, held for the first time in the Belait District, was co-organised by the Youth Develop-ment Centre (PPB) and the Belait District branch of the Youth and Sports Department (JBS) with the aim of improving the skills and knowledge of youths in communities nationwide.

Led by PPB instructors Nuranalyn binti Abdullah and Siti Norasilah binti Haji Saman, the workshop included the basics of 3D printing by using Tinkercad to make the 3D models before printing.

The participants also learnt about 3D models in architecture through the use of SketchUp.

Participant Muhammad Lai Jazmi bin Muhammad Silmi said, “3D design and printing is a new experience for me, and this is an additional skill for me to use in the future. The theory and practical sessions of the workshop were insightful, as they helped us learn how to design models in 3D and turn them into reality through 3D printing.”

PPB Assistant Director Haswandi bin Haji Osman attended the final day of the workshop yesterday as the guest of honour and presented certificates of participation.

“I hope the knowledge gained during the workshop will continue to inspire these participants to pursue a career in the field of 3D software design. The youth should also continue to seek out knowledge and hone their skills, which can be beneficial for them in the future,” said Haswandi. – Adib Noor
