The Chinese community in the Belait district commemorated the Chinese New Year with celebrations and Lion Dance performances yesterday despite the heavy rainfall.
In the Belait District, several households of prominent Chinese community members opened their doors to welcome the Year of the Snake.
Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the Belait District Loo Soon Nin celebrated the occasion with his family at their household at Jalan Perakong, Seria. Lion troupes from Chung Hua Middle School and Chung Lian School performed at the household.
Meanwhile, another lion troupe from Chung Ching Middle School and Chung Lian School performed at the residence of Belait District Basketball Association President Koo Kong Loi at Kampong Lumut. He celebrated the occasion with family and friends.
Chai Yum Fatt also celebrated the Chinese New Year at his household with family and friends accompanied by a Lion Dance performance by a lion troupe from Chung Lian School.
Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann witnessed the celebration. – Daniel Lim
