The Belait District recently observed Hari Raya Aidiladha with a series of communal Korban ceremonies, showcasing a spirit of unity and generosity among its residents.
Led by Haji Kadir bin Haji Suhaili and his family, one of the ceremonies was particularly notable for its scale and community involvement.
Over two days, the group, with the help of neighbours and volunteers, conducted a substantial sacrifice, slaughtering a total of fifteen animals— eight buffaloes and five goats on the first day, followed by another seven buffaloes on the second day.
Following the sacrifices, participants collaborated to prepare the meat, which was then carefully packed and distributed to various recipients, including the less fortunate residents listed under the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) in RPN Kampung Pandan C and RPN Kampung Panaga.
The village head of RPN Kampung Pandan C Haji Affandy bin Awang Damit was present to hand over the korban meat to the recipients during the event.
Meanwhile, the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Bolkiah Campus (SBC) in Seria also held a Korban ceremony, where five buffaloes were sacrificed.
The campus community, including students, instructors, and staff members, participated in the meat preparation and distribution process. – DANIEL LIM
