Twenty-four Belait District-based amils out of 362 nationwide received their appointment letters from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs during a ceremony at the halls of Zainab Mosque, Lumut recently.
Assistant State Mufti (Buhuth) Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mazanan bin Haji Yusof presented the appointment letters.
Head of Religious Officer from the Belait District Religious Affairs Office Mohamad Aliyani bin Ismail said as in the previous year, 24 amils in the Belait District will be responsible for the collection of zakat ahead of Ramadhan.
The newly appointed amils were briefed after the ceremony on the proper procedures of collecting and reporting zakat.
