The Belait District Chinese Chamber of Commerce celebrated the Chinese New Year at its main building on Thursday.
The group’s Cultural and Education officer Nyau Mee Liang in his opening speech explained the importance of celebrating the new year together as a united community.
“In addition to celebrating and welcoming the Year of the Snake, we also take this occasion to acknowledge the academic achievements of 11 students in their school examination.” He added that the Belait District Chinese Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting the students’ academic growth and development.
Contributions were also handed to Chung Hwa School Labi, Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait, Chung Ching Middle School Seria and Chung Lian School, received by the school representatives.
Other highlights included dinner, games, quizzes and a lucky draw.
