Beauty and health store ordered closed

A local beauty and health establishment was ordered to be closed by enforcement personnel from the Law Enforcement Unit of the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department for violating several regulations under Section 15, Chapter 241 of the Beauty and Health Establishments (BHE) Order during a recent inspection.

The offences included no medical examination check-up, workers not registered as medical practitioners under Chapter 112 and Section 18 (1), wearing inappropriate clothing under Section 13, not displaying licence from the BHE, locked door at treatment areas under Section 16(2), the violation of regulation policy, such as no customer registration, dirty premises, change of beauty and health services without approval and having an age limit.

The closure of the establishment was accompanied by 32 demerit points and the seizure of relevant documents.

Another establishment violated Section 15, Chapter 241 of the BHE Order, for not offering medical check-ups and received 10 demerit points.

Meanwhile, the final establishment failed to display the Renewed Licence Order and was issued two demerit points.

The joint operation was led by the Health Enforcement Unit of the Ministry of Health (MoH) targeting three establishments in Kiulap and Gadong.

It involved enforcement personnel from the Law Enforcement Unit of the BSB Municipal Department, the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED), the MoH, the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) and the Labour Department.

Meanwhile, the Labour Department uncovered three violations of the Employment Order 2009 at two premises, where employers failed to prepare written service contracts and give days off during public holidays.

If found guilty, the employers will face a fine of no more than BND1,000 for each offence, and failure to pay the compound fine result in them being brought to court.

Meanwhile, the MoH has issued compound fines to all three premises for the violation of the Medicines Order 2007.

A special pass was issued by the INRD Law Enforcement Division for the misuse of social visit pass.

The RCED also issued notices of seizure of items that were believed to have violated the Excise Order 2006 at all three premises.

The Law Enforcement Unit of the BSB Municipal Department called on beauty and health establishments to comply with the BHE Order to ensure that the Sultanate is free from immoral elements and safety risks.

Some 33 beauty and health establishments have been ordered closed and licences revoked since the start of the year. – James Kon
