Beach goes green with new signage, waste bins

In a move to bolster environmental stewardship, Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) has sponsored educational signage and waste disposal bins at Tanjung Batu Beach. The initiative aims to promote responsible waste management practices and raise public awareness about marine conservation. The project builds upon BMC’s collaborative beach clean-up with Green Brunei on November 1 at the same location.

The unveiling and handover ceremony was held yesterday afternoon, officiated by BMC Health, Safety, and Security General Manager Pengiran Mohamad Supri bin Pengiran Haji Chuchu and Head of the Park and Recreation Division at the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation Haji Muhammad Alamul Huda bin Dato Paduka Haji Adnan.

The newly-installed signage and waste bins serve as a continuous reminder of the collective responsibility to preserve Brunei’s coastlines. By encouraging visitors to keep the beach clean, the initiative contributes to the long-term sustainability of Brunei’s natural environment.

BMC remains committed to protecting the environment and fostering a sustainable future. Through impactful corporate social responsibility initiatives under its #RESPECT strategy, the company aligns with global sustainability goals, striving for a cleaner and greener world for future generations. – James Kon
