Beach clean-up yields 358 kilogrammes of trash

Sixty-three bags of trash weighing 358 kilogrammes combined were collected by over 200 volunteers in a beach clean-up campaign organised by Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd at Sungai Liang Beach yesterday.

Brunei LNG Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, the guest of honour, was welcomed by Mukim Liang Penghulu Haji Mohammad Yamin bin Haji Abdul Ranni.

Hajah Farida expressed gratitude to the Mukim Liang community, colleagues and Brunei LNG business partners for supporting the company’s commitment to ensure that the future generation can experience beaches the current generation enjoys today.

She also thanked Green Brunei for working with Brunei LNG towards a cleaner, greener future.

The event, attracting volunteers from all ages, demonstrated increasing environmental consciousness in Brunei. It is also one of several events to support the government’s commitment to become a low-carbon and climate-resilient nation via Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP).

The clean-up activity is part of the company’s BLNGolden Hearts Project Kindness and Brunei LNG Eco Eagles initiatives aimed at giving back to the community and championing sustainability.

Green Brunei co-founder and Community Engagement Director Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari and Kampong Sungai Liang Village Head Mohamad Hasrin bin Bagol were also present with Brunei LNG management, employees, business partners and Mukim Liang community members. – Daniel Lim
