Over 800 kilogrammes of rubbish, including plastic bottles, were collected during the Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan’s eighth Beach Cleaning Project at Meragang Beach.

With the aim of promoting a clean environment in the Sultanate, Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan members, family members and International School Brunei (ISB) students participated in the project, which is held three times a year.

President Muthukrishnan said, “Supporting the environment is a recent initiative taken up by Rotary International.”

“We believe that we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors. We borrow it from our children. It is everyone’s responsibility to give them back a clean environment for their future.”

Meanwhile, Organisational Chair and past president Klaus Tomalla said, “We are pleased that the project has so many supporters with the same interest in keeping the beaches in Brunei Darussalam clean.

“We are happy that ISB students joined us. We hope we could expand the project to other schools.”
