BBA aims to upgrade coaches, officials’ skills

The Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) hosted an inauguration ceremony for its newly-elected executive committee for the term 2023-2025 at Mulia Hotel on Saturday night.

Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin as the guest of honour witnessed the swearing in of the new executive committee.

Goh Kiat Hing was re-elected as BBA’s president during an election in November 2022.

Goh Kiat Hing conveyed his gratitude to the government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for the continued support of BBA.

He also extended his appreciation to committee members, sponsors as well as table officials and referees. Goh also welcomed several volunteer coaches, who have helped develop the association, in particular, Benjamin Sim who has been appointed as the men’s national coach.

Sim will be leading the national team in the upcoming FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup in Singapore from March 29 until April 2. Sim possesed FIBA Level 1 coaching certification and has vast experience representing the Sultanate as the national basketball team captain.

He thanked BBA for making him a head coach at the event.

BBA aims to invest in programmes to upgrade the skills and capability of coaches.

Lim Boon Teck has been re-elected as deputy president while Ang Han Then, On Wei Yeah, Foo Kian Ming, Tan Chu Eu, Vincent Pao Ping Seng and Ong Tze Kue are vice presidents. Lim Fung will continue as the secretary general while Lim Hong Seng is the treasurer.
