I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding the deplorable state of the roads in the Batu Bersurat area. As a central business district, the Batu Bersurat area is a frequented location for residents and visitors alike. Whether it’s shopping for groceries, doing laundry, having lunch, going to the gym or for wellness, it is an essential hub for many.
Therefore, I think it is crucial to bring attention to this pressing issue, which I should mention, affects the local businesses operating in the area as well.
The roads have deteriorated significantly over the past years. Potholes, cracks, and uneven surfaces have become a common sight.
I’m sure you can imagine the exasperation I feel when I’m startled out of my casual and slow – it bears repeating – slow, drive through the shopping complexes, because my front or rear bumper gets slammed onto the pavement from an unavoidable pothole or the many poorly designed speed humps within the area.
The wear and tear on vehicles due to these substandard roads has most likely increased maintenance costs for the business owners, their customers and surely the residents as well, if the scrapes on my own front bumper are any indication.
I strongly urge the authorities to look into road infrastructure improvements in the Batu Bersurat area. Considering the opening of the newly constructed shopping complexes, I believe that properly maintained roads should be an essential investment and I suggest repair works be done to the existing roads promptly, and a regular maintenance plan implemented to prevent future deterioration.
It would also be beneficial for the authorities to actually engage with residents and local business owners to gain a better understanding of the most critical areas in need of attention.
