Basketball tournament kicks off with big win

The Aewon PPE Interschool Basketball Tournament tipped off on Saturday night with Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan (CHMS BSB) cruising to an easy win over Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait (CHMS KB) 85-56 in the first game and Chung Ching Middle School dispatching Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School Secondary School 67-30 in the second match.

CHMS BSB Captain Wong Jun Yuan contributed 26 points while his teammate Andrin Ting added 21 points. Jong Jing Ren scored 21 points for CHMS KB. In the second game, Terry Chai of Chung Ching Middle School scored 20 points while Nicholas Ang added 16 points and Jack Yong scored 15 points for the crucial win. Aewon PPE general manager Ethan Lim Yee Cheng presented the prizes. Brunei Basketball Association’s (BBA) President Jake Goh with deputy president Lim Boon Teck were also present.

Tonight, the girls’ teams will be in action with International School Brunei taking on CHMS KB at 7pm and Jerudong International School versus Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College at 8.30pm.

All matches are held at the BBA’s basketball court in Batu Bersurat. – James Kon
