Basketball association postpones election; goes ahead with general meeting

Daniel Lim

The election of the new council members for 2022-2024 for the Belait District Basketball Association (BDBA) will not be carried out due to COVID-19 restrictions, and the association’s board of directors agreed to postpone the election to next year in hopes that the current situation subsides.

As part of their annual activities detailing the activities held by the association, the BDBA is slated to conduct their annual general meeting (AGM) on June 6 at Chin Wah Restaurant.

Chairman Koo Kong Loi noted that the AGM not only serves as a platform to discuss and report the association’s activities but also to raise proposals that the association can undertake to better support basketball in the district.

He added that due to the global pandemic as well as the nation undergoing a transitional phase, many activities that the association usually conducts each year, like the election, have been cancelled or postponed.

Despite the setbacks, he expressed a positive outlook on the future as the association continues to keep up-to-date with the latest developments and are ready to realise the mission of the association in supporting the sport through organising workshops, training, and tournaments.
