A fire destroyed a barrack house in Jalan Berakas on Saturday, according to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).
The department said 29 firefighters were dispatched from Berakas Fire Station, Lambak Kanan Fire Station, the Women Operation’s Unit Fire Station, Rimba Fire Station and Jerudong Fire Station to respond to the incident.
Firefighters arrived at the scene with the barrack still on fire. Two of the four units were empty while residents from the other two escaped before the firefighters arrived, said the FRD.
The department said it took 24 minutes to bring the fire under control, with two teams equipped in breathing apparatus and armed with three jet hoses taking action.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported. – James Kon
