Barista champ aims for bulls-eye brew at KL competition

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (CBTL) yesterday saw off their Brunei Barista Champion, Khairun Nasrullah bin Haji Ismail to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to compete in CBTL Barista Championship 2024.

The competition, which runs until tomorrow at the Grand Hyatt, will pit 10 CBTL baristas from eight countries to compete for the top prize of USD2,000.

Khairun Nasrullah will face off against baristas from Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Mongolia, Vietnam and Pakistan.

Khairun Nasrullah won the qualifying finals of the local Brunei Barista Competition 2024 with his signature drink, the ‘A Thyme to Celebrate’.

“I’m a caffeine-driven barista with eight years of experience.

“My curiosity and genuine love for creating exceptional beverages drive me to combine extensive knowledge and technical expertise,” he said.
