Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) participated in a river cleanup campaign, ‘Komuniti Industri Kewangan: H2O HEROES’, held at Brunei River, Kampong Ayer, organised by the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) and Green Brunei.

The initiative aligned with World Environment Day, underscoring the commitment of the financial sector to environmental sustainability, with the campaign aimed at engaging industry leaders in direct environmental action, focusing on the challenges and preservation of the natural beauty of Kampong Ayer.

Through the participation, BIBD reaffirms its dedication under the BIBD Sustainability Framework, demonstrating active involvement in projects that support the community and environmental conservation.

A number of BIBD employees joined the initiative, demonstrating BIBD’s values of upholding the Maqasid Syariah and remaining ‘Bruneian at Heart’.

The participation not only reinforces BIBD’s commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship but also mirrors the bank’s dedication to sustainability.

“BIBD is privileged to support BDCB’s ‘H2O HEROES’ initiative, which plays a crucial role in uniting the financial sector towards a common goal of environmental preservation,” said BIBD’s Head of Government Relations and Special Projects Haji Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah. “We are working closely with our regulator to instil good values of cleanliness and environmental sustainability amongst participants. Together, it is hoped that we can make an impact on the environmental health and advance towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Brunei.”
