Bank distributes donations to 100 homes

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) organised the annual Sirah Amal initiative for the 14th consecutive year to mark Ramadhan.

Over 100 BIBD staff visited 100 households to deliver shopping vouchers and donations comprising food and Raya essentials. The recipients included 60 BIBD Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future (ALAF) students and 40 underprivileged converts identified by the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI), said the bank in a statement yesterday.

The Sirah Amal programme began on March 8 in the Brunei-Muara District and subsequently expanded to the other districts.

The initiative was spearheaded by the bank’s senior management team and saw the participation of staff and personnel.

BIBD Chief Marketing Officer Hajah Nurul Akmar binti Haji Md Jaafar said, “We are reminded of the vital role generosity plays in our lives. It embodies not just compassion but also the core tenet of Maqasid Syariah, which underscores the significant of social justice and equality.

“Through our shared blessings, we aim to lessen the hardships of the less fortunate, thereby fostering a more just and equitable society.”

She added, “BIBD’s commitment to upholding Maqasid Syariah and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) mirror our dedication to nurturing social accountability and enduring progress.

“Our diverse initiatives and programmes reflect our profound comprehension of community positively to our nation and the globe.”
