The High Commission of Bangladesh in Brunei Darussalam, in collaboration with the Reading and Literacy Association of Brunei Darussalam (ReLA), organised a drama performance titled Nevermore Academy at the Laksamana College of Business’ (LCB) new campus extension on Tuesday. was chaired by High Commissioner of Bangladesh Nahida Rahman Shumona and co-chaired by ReLA President Dr Malai Zeiti binti Sheikh Abdul Hamid.
The drama was led and coordinated by its drama director Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS) teacher Witsy Lisa Matthews.
Heads of missions and representatives from Cambodia, China, Germany, India, Laos, Myanmar, Oman, Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Turkiye attended the event.
Nevermore Academy tells the story of a teenage girl trying to cope with the harsh reality of life and teenage angst as she navigates in her new school while meeting various people and adventures.
The cast and crew comprised 25 children and youth aged seven to 24 from St Andrew’s School, MSPSBS, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School, Universiti Teknologi Brunei and LCB.
A story based on the famed Hollywood franchise, The Addams Family and an adaptation of the recent number one Netflix blockbuster, self-titled TV series, Wednesday, the event lasted two hours.
A special live violin performance played the Brunei and Bangladesh national anthems.
It concluded with a presentation of certificates of appreciation and group photos of guests and cast. – Lyna Mohamad
