Bangladesh celebrates birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate

The Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam commemorated the 161st birth anniversary of Nobel laureate and poet Rabindranath Tagore at the Bangladesh High Commission Chancery in Kampong Tanah Jambu yesterday.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Nahida Rahman Shumona was the guest of honour.

Tagore was a literary writer who received several awards including the Nobel Prize in the field of literature.

His work, Kabuliwala, was read to children by members of the Reading and Literacy Association (ReLA) during the celebration.

The event also saw the launching of a children’s book, Mummy To The Rescue, by Dr Malai Zeity binti Sheikh Abdul Hamid and Dr Malai Haniti binti Sheikh Abdul Hamid.
