Bangkok convention promotes education sustainability

Twenty members of the Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB), led by president Haji Abdul Alim bin Haji Othman, left for Bangkok yesterday to attend the 38th ASEAN Council of Teachers Convention Plus Korea (ACT+1), held from tomorrow to September 8.

The delegation is participating on the invitation of the Teachers’ Council of Thailand, who is co-hosting the convention this year.

The event will also be attended by other ACT+1 member countries – Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippine, Laos and Vietnam.

The convention grouping over 800 participants represented by members of teachers’ associations, will feature presentations of keynote papers and reports from participating member countries, focusing on the convention’s main theme, ‘Promoting Happy Schooling and Sustainability in Education’.

The event will provide a forum for the participants to discuss topics and challenges to promote a sustainable future of education benefiting the environment and the whole community in schools.

Among the topics to be covered are educational policies, integration of digital technologies, innovative approach in learning, teaching and assessment, teacher professional development, and leadership and school management. Leaders of each member country will endorse a resolution at the end of the three-day convention.

The sessions will also select the next host country for the year 2025. PGGMB last hosted in 2019. – Lyna Mohamad
