James Kon

A restaurant that received a Notice to Vacate the Premises Unit issued by the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) on January 26 for operating in modified or renovated premises unit without obtaining Occupation Permit (OP), was allowed to re-open after obtaining OP on Wednesday.

The restaurant submitted its application for an OP on Tuesday which was approved on Wednesday, according to ABCi. The authority said the period for processing an application for an OP is seven days subject to the required submitted documents.

It is the responsibility of owners, operators and tenants of building units and premises to appoint a qualified person registered with the Ministry of Development to ensure that documents are accurate and complete and that the building is safe and clean to reside in.

It is an offence or violation if a unit or premises of building is inhabited without an OP.
