Awards ceremony held for Al-Quran recitation competition winners

An award ceremony for the Surah Al-Fatihah recitation and memorisation of Ayat-Ayat Lazim competition for Al-Quran and Muqaddam Classes at mosques, suraus, and religious halls nationwide for 1446 Hijrah was held at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque yesterday.

The competition, organised by the Mosque Affairs Department at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) through the Al-Quran and Muqaddam Classes Unit, Imarah Division, in collaboration with the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque takmir committee, aimed to cultivate a deep connection with Al-Quran.

The event was also held in conjunction with the 78th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Some 44 children participated in the competition, which was divided into two categories: Category ‘A’ for children aged seven to nine and Category ‘B’ for children aged 10 to 12.
