Attempt to smuggle syabu worth BND450,000 foiled

The Narcotics Control Bureau thwarted an attempt to smuggle 3.48 kilogrammes of syabu valued at BND450,000 during a series of operations in January and this month under Operasi Black Bull.

A total of 12 individuals were arrested for their suspected involvement in drug distribution across Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Belait districts.

The authorities noted that the quantity of drugs seized could result in the death penalty upon conviction. Four individuals were apprehended at the Sungai Tujoh Control Post while attempting to bring in 391.23 grammes of syabu in mid-January.

The group’s alleged ringleader was previously arrested during an operation in 2021 and since risen in prominence following the dismantling of a syndicate. – Fadley Faisal
