The Belait District Youth Association (PEMBELA) continues to provide youth a platform to conduct projects beneficial in aiding and giving back to the community over the past 56 years, its president Atikah Rumaizah binti Dr Haji Harun said.
She said that while times have changed, the association is committed to its mission and continues to provide both physical and moral support for the new generation of youth, along with a leadership capable of driving the association.
Atikah Rumaizah said this during a Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran ceremony organised to mark the association’s 56 years of service, held at its Kuala Belait office on Friday.
Acting Belait District Officer Mohamad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed, founders, veterans, alumni, and youth members of the association also participated.
The mass recitation of Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran was conducted by the head teacher of Al-Quran class of the association.
Atikah Rumaizah also said creating a platform and opportunities help unite entire communities – from children to senior citizens, leading to enthusiastic, responsible, skilled, and resourceful persons working for the country’s development.
The president handed over BND133.50 to the Belait District Orphan Funds, received by the guest of honour as the chairman of the fund; and kitchen and daily necessities worth BND133.50 to Pusat Bahagia’s Eric Goh, received by the centre’s representative Winnieyanti binti Haji Sumy.
These contributions were from funds derived from the PEMBELA bazaar and business opportunities created by youth of the association in selling Sata Ikan and Bebola Ikan via online platform since January of this year.
The guest of honour also viewed the galleries and facilities at the centre.
Meanwhile, PEMBELA also conducted a flag-hoisting ceremony to mark His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 76th birthday celebration.
