Association swears in new leadership

The Fuzhou Shiyyi Association in Brunei Darussalam was established 11 years ago and faced many challenges to rise to prominence and success through hard work and sacrifices of its associates.

Founding president Jackson Ting said this at the inauguration ceremony of the association’s new president and executive committee.

Dr Andy Lau Sie Chuong is the new president while Jeff Yong Teck Chin is deputy president.

Wong Nan Luk, Raymond Ting Sii Kiong, Ngu Howe Ing and Vincent Pao are vice presidents. Luke Lau and Jessica Lee retained their posts as secretary and treasurer.

The event saw the reading of oath and the signing of appointment documents for office-bearers.

Dr Lau vowed that the new executive committee will uphold the association’s objective, which is to promote cooperation among members to strengthen business ties and friendship. He also conveyed his gratitude to Ting for his support and contribution to the association and realising the dream of an association building.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour at the event at Fuzhou Shiyyi Association building.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Lau How Teck, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Xiao Jianguo, Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah and representatives from local associations were also present. – James Kon
