One-third of ASEAN’s population comprises youth in 2022, which is expected to rise. Therefore, it is imperative for youth to be more involved in regional diplomacy, driving change and propelling the region forward.

This was emphasised by the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Secretary-General, Ar. Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Haji Abdul Rahman, during the AIPA Roadshow held at the Banquet Hall of the Legislative Council Building on Thursday.

In her opening remarks, Ar Siti Rozaimeriyanty noted that youth are the future leaders and that through fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, they can bridge the gap between generations and foster more collaborations.

A total of 147 youths from universities, institutions of higher learning, and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Brunei Darussalam participated in the roadshow.

Organised in partnership between the AIPA Secretariat and the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam, the AIPA Roadshow aims to further advance youth initiatives while enhancing ASEAN and AIPA awareness.

A series of engaging presentations, discussions, and interactive sessions have been lined up under the programme, promising youth a valuable opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of AIPA’s role in advancing regional cooperation through parliamentary diplomacy.
