ASEAN media meets in Vietnam

The 23rd meeting of the Sub-Committee on Information (23rd SCI) ASEAN Committee for Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI) was held on June 30 and July 1 at Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel, Vietnam.

Brunei Darussalam was represented by Special Duties Officer Grade I at Radio Television Brunei (RTB) Mohd Syazwan bin Nordin and Acting Information Officer and Acting Head of International Affairs Unit Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar bin Pengiran Haji Sellahhuddin in his capacity as the Secretary of SCI ASEAN-COCI Brunei Darussalam.

Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications’ Director General of the Department of International Cooperation Trieu Minh Long and Mohd Syazwan as vice chairman chaired the meeting attended by representatives from ASEAN member countries including the ASEAN Secretariat. It discussed matters of interest in the information sector, reports on the progress of projects with dialogue partners, new projects to be implemented and approval of the use of allocations under the ASEAN Cultural Fund for 2023.

Also proposed during the meeting were several projects from member countries such as workshop on digital transformation for media communications in ASEAN proposed by Vietnam, sustainable micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) proposed by Myanmar and a tour for ASEAN journalists to observe Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia proposed by Cambodia.

The chairman also invited Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar to announce and welcome the delegation to the 24th meeting of the SCI ASEAN-COCI to be chaired by Brunei in 2023.

The next ASEAN-COCI meeting will be held in November.
