Are our eggs regulated?

In the past few weeks, I have bought two trays of eggs with at least four rotten eggs in each.

If I had gotten these eggs only from convenience stores alone, I wouldn’t have thought much of it, because it could well be old stocks or some storage issue.

Instead, even big supermarkets are not immune to these bad batches, it seems.

My question is: Is there a government agency dedicated to regulate eggs on our market?  Surely I am not the only one who keeps getting these bad batches; there must be people out there encountering the same problem.

Is it a storage issue? But would both small shops and big supermarkets store these eggs the same way? Where in the supply chain did these eggs turn bad? Is there no enforcement on the quality?

Egg prices have gone up so much in the past few months that it is infuriating to pay more for sub-par products.

I have since developed a habit of putting eggs through the water test. If it floats, I will throw it away. But ultimately, I believe the authorities need to impose strict regulation on these eggs.
