A total of 109 Arabic language teachers were feted in a Doa Kesyukuran and certificate presentation at The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong on Monday.
The event also saw a handover of Arabic language books from the Sultanate of Oman to Arabic schools in the country.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) through its Ta’zeez Al-Lughah Al-‘Arabiah Bi Madaris ‘Arabiah Programme Unit and the Islamic Studies Department organised an Arabic language proficiency enhancement programme for teaching staff and students at Arabic schools across the nation.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman presented the certificates to the teachers.
Ambassador of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari was also present to hand over Arabic language books to principals of the schools.
The Tadreeb Al-Mu’allim programme was implemented in 2021 to teach Arabic language in cooperation with the Embassy of Oman and Oman’s Ministry of Education.
The programme was held virtually for three months and saw the participation of 109 Arabic language teachers, with 44 teachers in the first intake and 65 in the second intake.
The event was held to show appreciation to the teachers involved in the professional development programme to raise teaching and learning skills in Arabic; initiatives to strengthen the efforts implemented through the Islamic Studies Department and the Ta’zeez Al-Lughah Al-‘Arabiah Bi Madaris ‘Arabiah Programme Unit to cultivate the use of Arabic language in Arab schools; and strengthen cooperation in the field of education with Oman.
Also in attendance at the event were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, permanent secretary and deputy permanent secretary at the MoRA, as well as delegates from Oman.
