Appreciation night for over 90 teachers, educators

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) recently hosted an appreciation night for teachers and educators who are involved in the bank’s Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future (ALAF) programme.

The event was held to recognise and appreciate the support from the teachers towards the BIBD ALAF programme, in ensuring the well-being and educational needs of the primary, secondary and pre-university students under the programme are well-met.

A total of 76 Student Affairs (HEP) teachers, comprising 60 teachers from Department of Schools and 16 teachers from Department of Islamic Studies, and 16 tuition teachers as well as nine interns were celebrated at the event held at the PGGMB building in the capital.

BIBD’s Chief Marketing Officer Hajah Nurul Akmar binti Hj Mohd Jaafar, who was present as guest of honour at the event, said, “Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for the support and contribution of the BIBD ALAF’s support and teaching force which have helped our ALAF students obtained not only academic achievements but also personal feats that BIBD and Brunei Darussalam can be proud of.

“We also would like to express our utmost appreciation for the support we have received from other stakeholders of our ALAF programme. Together with the unwavering commitment of our teachers, BIBD will continue to expand the programme as a whole-of-nation initiative and programme that support and further national goals towards achieving Brunei Vision 2035 and complement our sustainability goals as part of our framework towards supporting the UNSDG 2030.”

Also present at the appreciation night were officials from the Ministry of Education (MoE), Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), members of the BIBD ALAF Programme Board of Trustees, members of the BIBD ALAF Taskforce Committee, supporting vendors and BIBD personnel.

The collaboration between BIBD with MoE and MoRA had progressed to the development of several beneficial activities and initiatives aimed to further develop a strong interest and a sense of appreciation from the students towards the ALAF programme.

Throughout the school holiday in March and December of the same year, several activities were held ranging from workshops, reading clubs, career talks and visits, to motivational talks, forums, mental health awareness talks and sustainability activity with Kilang Reroot.
