APEC senior officials meet to discuss regional growth

Senior officials from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies met recently to discuss regional initiatives for development and sustainability.

Representatives from APEC economies, APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), Pacific Economic Cooperation Council and other invited international organisations attended the meeting at Palm Springs, California, United States (US).

Brunei Darussalam was represented by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Trade and Industry) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Mohammad Harris bin Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim.

In his statement, Mohammad Harris welcomed APEC’s priorities in 2023, and expressed Brunei Darussalam’s support to work collectively with economies in fostering long-term economic growth in the region, among others, through the promotion of trade and investment, as well as enabling environment for sustainable and inclusive development.

It included APEC’s cooperation to further facilitate trade, enhance digital trade, empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and women.
