    Amateur golfers take home trophies

    Some 150 participated in the 32nd Pantai Mentiri Golf Club Amateur Open and 1st Senior Amateur Golf Open Championships 2023 from May 5 to 7 which saw Awangku Muhd Syakir bin Pengiran Haji Alli win in the Men’s Overall Gross with 218 strokes and walking away with the trophy and cash prize. Brian Chew came in second place with 221 strokes and Qawi Aslimon in third place with 229 strokes.

    Meanwhile, the Ladies Overall Gross was won by Agnes Hiu with 167 strokes and Agnes De La Cruz in second place with 168 strokes.

    In the Men’s Overall Open Gross Senior, the winner was Johari Haji Ahmad with 153 strokes, Suhaimi Ibrahim in second place with 154 strokes and Haji Ahmad bin Haji Tusin in third with 158 (OCB) strokes. Pengiran Datin Ummi Kalthum won in the Ladies Overall Open Gross with 102 strokes. Hajah Azizah Ahmad placed in second with 110 strokes and Mas Alinah Dato Haji Yacob was in third with 117 strokes.

    Pengiran Dato Abidin bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad presented the Overall Open Senior Gross Senior prizes and trophies.

    Pantai Mentiri Golf Club Chairperson Colonel (Rtd) Zahrin bin Zunaidi presented prizes and trophies for the Overall Open Gross for Men and Women.

    There was also a presentation of contributions for earthquake victims in Turkiye and Syria to a representative of Community Development Department at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
