Indonesian Ambassador-designate Dr Achmed Ubaedillah urged the Indonesian community in Brunei to always maintain unity, solidarity and help each other even when abroad.
He said this during the commemoration ceremony of the 78th Independence Day of Indonesia at the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam. The flag hoisting was led by ambassador-designate with Major ARM Gunawan acting as the Commander of Ceremony accompanied by the singing of Indonesia’s national anthem.
The flag hoisting was led by members of the flag-hoisting troop comprising 11 Indonesian students at junior and senior high schools in Brunei.
In commemorating Indonesia’s Independence Day, awards were presented to several Indonesians for their achievements and active role in collaborating with the Indonesian Embassy in the field of education and safety. The celebration ended with an aubade featuring 32 children dressed in traditional attire and performing Indonesian songs.
Hundreds of Indonesians from all four districts attended the event wearing Indonesia’s traditional clothing and participated in activities during the ceremony. – Lyna Mohamad
