Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) organised a Doa Kesyukuran in conjunction with its 95th anniversary at the Royal Berkshire Hall, Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club in Kampong Jerudong yesterday.
The event began with a Doa Kesyukuran, led by BSP’s Muhammad Najmuddin bin Haji Md Said followed by a religious talk by Muhammad Yussof bin Haji Abdul Majid.
It also saw a donation to 39 Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) Companies’ orphans by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah.
BSP Managing Director and Shell Country Chair in Brunei Darussalam Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis said the company has played a significant role in contributing to Brunei’s growth and development for almost a century while highlighting the contribution of the local workforce.
Johnsgaard-Lewis said BSP has cultivated workforce and technical experts over the decades, which today are made up of 90 per cent Bruneians, adding that there are 837 BSJV scholars.
The managing director also emphasised on the company’s embrace of innovation and technology in various applications including sustainability, while outlining recent achievements, including the first commercial remotely piloted aerial system beyond visual line to sight to an offshore facility in Asia; first renewable energy certificate for Brunei, BSP and in Shell; billionth barrel production in Champion Field; and first low cost development project with Egret East.
Deputy Minister (Energy) at the PMO Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the PMO Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib and Acting Permanent Secretary (Fiscal II) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Hajah Latifah binti Haji Mahmud were also present. – James Kon
