Enforcement officers of the Halal Food Control Division (Temburong District branch), Syari’ah Affairs Department found almost 600 kilogrammes (kg) of chicken meat at Kampong Puni on Sunday after receiving information concerning dubious chicken meat being smuggled into the country.
The poultry, comprising 82.5kg of wings and 515.5kg of tails were confiscated for investigation.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) reminded companies wishing to import meat into the Sultanate to obtain the halal import permit from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, on top of fulfilling requirements stipulated by other agencies relating to the importation of halal meat.
