Almost 1,000 children vaccinated, no adverse side effects reported

James Kon

Some 981 children received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on the first day of inoculation for children aged five to 11, or 2.3 per cent of children in the age group.

This was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at a press conference yesterday.

He added that no adverse side effects were reported, and the children will receive their second dose in three to four weeks.

The minister also said parents and guardians will be encouraged to bring their children for inoculation through booking a slot on the BruHealth app soon.

Parents are reminded to complete the authentication process for the children’s accounts on the app in preparation for the vaccination.

COVID-19 vaccination is not a requirement for children to attend school, enter any premises and participate in activities.

The vaccination centres were closed yesterday and will remain shut today for public holiday marking the beginning of Ramadhan.

The operating hours for vaccination during Ramadhan are 8.30am to 1pm from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday. The vaccination centres will be closed on Fridays, Sundays and
public holidays.
