Almerez FC has been confirmed as one of the teams to compete in the much-anticipated SMJ Futsal Championship 2023 to be held at the Arena Futsal Yayasan Sabah in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from April 14 to 16.
The local futsal club will vie for top honours alongside hosts Sabah Football Association, Selangor TOT United Futsal Club and DNY Cartel.
The Brunei outfit will begin their campaign against Sabah FA on Friday before meeting Selangor TOT United a day later.
Almerez FA, who currently compete in the Brunei Futsal League 2023, will conclude their campaign against DNY Cartel on April 16.
The club representative said, “We are very happy to announce that Almerez has been invited to the SMJ Futsal Championship 2023.”
The tie against Selangor TOT United in particular will represent a tough test having previously enjoyed a third place finish in the Malaysia Futsal Cup – the country’s premier cup competition – last year.
The three-day meet will be organised by KK Futsal League and supported by the Sabah FA and Football Association of Malaysia.
