A total of 166 students of Micronet International College (MIC) were feted during the college’s graduation ceremony at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Brunei yesterday.

Present during the ceremony as the guest of honour was Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman. Also in attendance were Acting Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Chin Wei Keh, Managing Director of MIC Sylvester Yong, General Manager and Principal of MIC Sharon Chin as well as invited top education officials, vice chancellor and assistant vice chancellor of universities in the Sultanate.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a video presentation followed by welcoming remarks from Sharon Chin. She congratulated the graduates for their accomplishment and wished them a bright future as they apply their skills in future careers.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates and awards to the graduates.

Certificates were presented to students who have completed programmes, such as International Certificate Level to Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma, and Scottish Qualifications Authority SQA & NCC Education, as well as NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing.

MIC is a satellite partner of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), offering a 14-week undergraduate degree entry pathway BriCOMP programme to students who fall short of the ‘A’ Level or IB points results to meet the university’s minimum entry requirement.

Upon successful completion of the programme, the students will pursue their Bachelor’s degree programme in computing at UTB.
