Members of the public were able to get up close and personal with the new KIA Sorento following the launch at KIA Brunei’s showroom yesterday.
The new KIA Sorento is a perfect midsize family SUV, equipped with innovative safety features including the Sensors and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology that anticipate and avoid risks and threats with masterful dynamic support on the open road or as one eases into a parking spot.
The latest ADAS technology helps keep the occupant alert, safe and in control by keeping them at a safe distance from vehicles and pedestrians as well as responding to unexpected situations in real time.
The smart cruise control helps maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead at the speed you set. If the vehicle ahead stops abruptly, the Sorento automatically stops and then resumes acceleration.
Meanwhile, the lane following assist (LFA) helps the driver centres the vehicle in the lane while driving by using the front view camera to help guide the steering based on lane markings or the car ahead.
The blind-spot collision-avoidance assist (BCA) warns drivers of a risk of collision with a rear side vehicle in the blind spot while changing lanes and reverse parking collision-avoidance assist (PCA) provides a warning if there is a risk of collision with a rear object while reversing.
The next generation technology inside includes the panoramic curved display offering an immersive driver experience.
Another notable feature is the fingerprint module offering improved convenience and security by loading driver’s personalised settings in driving and even start the engine when the keys are forgotten.
Meanwhile, the digital centre mirror display images from the rear-spoiler camera giving a clearer view of a much wider area, day or night, rain or shine. The driver can switch to optical mode with the flick of a lever at the base of the mirror.
The new KIA Sorento comes with three 2WD trims of G, GL and GLS. All trims are equipped with the same petrol engine of 2.5L DOHC D-CVVT MPI and six-speed automatic transmission.
