I would like to applaud the authorities for placing tankers in strategic locations across Brunei-Muara District during the recent water supply disruptions.
However, as a Kampong Kiarong resident, the nearest tanker was located in Kampong Sengkurong – a distance from my residence.
I tried to contact the authorities through the hotline numerous times to see if there was another tanker closer to home, but the answer I received was always the same – go to the Kampong Sengkurong site to obtain clean water.
Due to the sharing of the tanker with other villages, we were limited to a certain amount, which was barely even enough to last the day in a larger household.
Perhaps a better solution is to have a tanker in each village to ensure residents in affected areas have enough to tide over until the public utility is back.
