Alerts sent out over persistent rain

Hakim Hayat

Large swathes of Brunei Darussalam experienced continuous showers yesterday, persisting from the wee hours of the morning all the way to the evening.

The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department yesterday issued three yellow (be alert) weather warnings at 6.05am, 1.10pm and 5pm, informing of heavy showers over many areas of the country.

The advisory warned of the risk of flash floods, especially in low-lying and flood prone areas, with wind gusts of up to 40 kilometres per hour.

The public, including motorists, is advised to be on the alert and take measures to ensure safety of lives and properties.
