Private (U) Masrur Fu’ad bin Haji Asmat from Royal Brunei Air Force won first place in the men’s category of the Al-Quran Reading Competition held in conjunction with the 63rd anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
Sergeant Nazirul bin Haji Asmat from the RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT) at the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and Lance Corporal Muhammad Hazim bin Sulaiman from the Medical and Health Services at the Royal Brunei Land Force took second and third place.
The prize presentation was held at the Defence Academy RBAF, Tanah Jambu yesterday.
In the women’s category, Private (U) Khayyirah binti Haji Kamsol from RBAF JAMA’AT at MinDef secured first place, with Officer Cadet Nurul Khairiyah Mumtazah binti Haji Sahri from the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy RBAF and Sergeant Masrani binti Jefri from the Recruit Company, Training Institute, RBAF in second and third.
Commander of the RBAF Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan presented the awards.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by Al-Quran recitations by the top male and female participants.
The event featured an Al-Quran recitation by Muhammad Zaim Al-Muzaffar bin Haji Zulaminshah, a semi-finalist in the 2023 National Youth Al-Quran Reading Competition.
The event concluded with the announcement of winners and a closing doa by Acting Director of RBAF JAMA’AT Lieutenant Colonel Ariffin bin Amit.
The competition had 13 participants from various RBAF units and was finalised on August 12. – Azlan Othman
