Haji Mohammad Halidi bin Haji Juni from Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop emerged as the winner in the finals of Murattal Al-Quran reading competition for mosque officers yesterday.
The first runner-up was Arif Billah bin Haji Mohd Safar from Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Mentiri while the second runner-up was Muhammad Hanif bin Haji Khamis from Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Kebun. The competition, held for the first time and organised by Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque takmir committee members, saw 20 contestants.
Guest of honour Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang handed over the prizes.
Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque officer Zulkifli bin Haji Murat said the contestants attended a workshop on June 12 to fine tune their skills prior to the competition.
