Al-Quran a blessing for humankind: Sultan

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday said Al-Quran is a blessing for humankind by “guiding the lost towards the righteous path”.

The monarch said this in a titah during the finals of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1444 Hijrah at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

His Majesty added, “Those who accept Al-Quran will be saved, and those who don’t will remain lost.”

The monarch also quoted Qadha and Qadar: “During joy and happiness, we are urged to be grateful when faced with difficulties caused by calamity; we are urged to be patient with Allah the Almighty’s pre-destination.”

His Majesty believes that the test of COVID-19, during which the nation intensified its Munajat to seek protection from Allah the Almighty, had nurtured characters that can overcome any challenges.

As such, the monarch called on the ummah to acquaint themselves with Al-Quran through recitation and understanding of the meanings behind Quranic verses to “enlighten our hearts”.

His Majesty also reminded those entrusted with the responsibility of regulating halal foods to work under the guidance of Syara’ law and tackle halal-related issues with bravery and a strong sense of responsibility.

Meanwhile, all ummah must abide by the order of Allah the Almighty and consume only foods that are halal, said the monarch. – Azlan Othman
