It was a double victory for the two teams from Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque, Kampong Jerudong when they clinched top positions (in the male and female categories) at the National Dikir Syarafil Anam for Mosque Officers, Takmir Committee, Muslimah and Youths.
Forty teams across the nation participated in the three day competition at Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, held in conjunction with the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) cum guest of honour Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan awarded prizes to the top five teams in each category.
Competition chairman cum Imam Mohd Hilmi bin Yakup said, “The competition provides participants the opportunity to learn the technicalities and methods of reciting Dikir properly, through consistent practice.”
In the male category, the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque team ranked in second place, followed by teams from Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Malik Mosque, Mosque Affairs Department and RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque.
In the female category, the Kampong Penanjong Mosque team ranked in second place, followed by teams from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque, Kampong Batu Apoi Mosque and ‘Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.
Organised by the Mosque Affairs Department through its Imarah Division in collaboration with the takmir committee of the mosque, the competition looks to further improve the quality of Dikir Syarafil Anam recitation among the community.
