I would like to call on the authorities to ensure all primary schools across the country have air-conditioning amid the current heatwave.
As a teacher at a public school in rural Tutong, the lack of air-conditioning means both the teachers and students have been suffering through the heat to get any work done.
What I’ve noticed is the inability among the children to focus on their learning materials, distracted by the boiling temperature in the classroom.
While I’m sure the heatwave will pass, we do live in the tropics. With all world experts sounding the alarm on climate change almost everday, these heatwaves are most likely to return.
