The Magistrate’s Court allowed a ‘stay of execution’ on a sentence handed to an offender on Thursday.
Hamzah bin Pehin Orang Kaya Kesuma Dato Paduka Haji Ali was sentenced to three years’ jail after being found guilty of charges involving acts of aggression. Defence counsel Pengiran Khairul Nizam bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Yassin informed Senior Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman that the defence party will file for an appeal in the High Court and sought for ‘stay of execution’ on the sentence.
The court allowed the application pending appeal.
