Active weather to persist until Thursday, says BDMD

Brunei Darussalam is in the southwest monsoon, which will persist until September, said the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) yesterday.

During southwest monsoon, atmospheric conditions over the country tend to be quite stable with minimal thunderstorms occurrences compared to the inter-monsoon period. The wind will generally blow from the southwest direction during this period.

Weather conditions are forecasted to be active until Thursday, with occasional heavy and thundery showers expected to affect many areas of the country. Wind speed may reach up to 45 kilometres per hour during or near heavy showers.

Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally slight at below one metre, said the agency.

The public is advised to take precautions due to the risk of fallen trees, landslides, and flash floods, especially in low-lying areas and near riverbanks.

Road users and fishermen should stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and advisories from the BDMD.
